A home says a lot about a person’s life. A few years ago, I was privileged to visit my great-aunt, Doda Bella and receive a tour of her apartment.
Doda Bella loved photography. She showed us scanned images of her children, parents, and husband. she was so excited and happy to share the joy with us.
I brought my hasselblad with me, it was a few weeks after I purchased it from @joestroudphotography (thanks @extended_vacay for making the connection!) and i was so excited to document everything I could with it (still am). Let this be a reminder for me to bring my hassey with me wherever I go this coming year.
I got to document my visit to doda bella’s apartment. I photographed the sculptures she created, the books on her shelves, and the stories and culture she dedicated her life to preserving.
Doda Bella spent her life translating yiddish plays and publishing her fathers books written on the Holocaust. She lived her life preserving yiddish culture and got her masters in yiddish literature at 74.
